Portland Stone
Live Performance at Strawberry Fair 2014
Memorialisation and remembrance are significant parts of local history. This song is about the construction of Hitchin Town War Memorial. The research behind this song can be found in my Undergraduate Dissertation. |

Think of the Children (Live)
Live Performance at Strawberry Fair 2014
(Apologies for background music from the other stages. Also, a big thanks to the chaps who were very enthusiastic about the songs) This is a song about recent 'developments' in the English educational system, which is soon to return to a Victorian style of education, that is being increasingly marketed and consequently destroyed by the intervention of an education ministry that think education was best in the 'good old days of their youth'. This song's chorus finishes with the lyrics: "He's committing intellectual genocide". This is a reference to the current education minister. This songs has a number of education related photos in it, as there was no video recording in the studio |

I Go A-Walking
Live Performance at Strawberry Fair 2014
When the government announced they were going to close a number of public libraries, I reflected on the difficulties I had with reading as a child. I came to enjoy reading much later on in my life, during my first degree, in fact. This song, as the brief introduction here, at Strawberry Fair, explains that there is something so wonderful and amazing about the written word... in fact when you open a page it is often like going for a walk in another land or world. |
